Orleans teachers to be paid.

6:51 P.M. - (AP): New Orleans teachers scattered throughout the country after fleeing the path of destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina may get paid next week, school officials said Wednesday.

Back up tapes containing payroll information have been retrieved and were being processed at IBM's Disaster Recovery Data Center in Tuxedo, New York, according to Alvarez & Marsal, a restructuring firm that has been working with New Orleans' public schools.

This will be a great relief to my friends who teach in New Orleans. It looks like their worst fears, at least, have not come true.
