While the voting machines were older and had been discontinued by North Carolina, where they were originally used, the voting apparatus are still in use in Louisiana and New Jersey.

Oh I hate those electronic machines. Fast, yes, and I'm sure they seem cool and high tech. But they leave no paper trail. No way to do a recount if needed. No way for voters to even verify their own vote as it is cast.
Scary stuff, indeed.
