Blanco urges reinstatement of Davis-Bacon

Blanco urged President Bush to give Louisiana businesses priority in rebuilding contracts because that would help Louisiana families. She also urged Bush to exempt Louisiana from his executive order that suspends the Davis-Bacon Act requirements in disaster recovery contracts. The Davis-Bacon Act requires contractors to pay prevailing wages and encourages apprenticeships for women and minorities.

Louis Reine, president of the Louisiana AFL-CIO, urged Clinton to take that message back to former President Bush.

Clinton told Allen that federal authorities need to add coastal restoration to their list of long-term needs.

Did Clinton say he would take the Davis -Bacon message to Bush? Is this bad reporting, or did Clinton not respond?
