State senators say they have no idea how to pay a $3.75 billion bill the Federal Emergency Management Agency is mailing Louisiana for its share of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita relief.Less than useless.
What's worse, Legislative Fiscal Officer Steve Theriot said, is that $2.8 billion is due in six months. If that's not paid in 90 days, a 60 percent late penalty will be imposed, and interest will start piling up.
