This fire destroyed about 8 acres of lumber near Jennings, Louisiana, last night. I was passing on the Interstate and took this picture from an overpass about half a mile away. The fire was huge, with flames rising above the tall line of pines that surrounded the site on three sides.

But, hmmm, it doesn't look so big when reduced to this size.

From here in Georgia, this looks like a *huge* fire. I can't imagine the reality of it -- just as I'm still unable to wrap my brain around what happened (and is happening) in NOLA.
Funny thing is, I haven't heard or read a word about this in the news yet. Have I chosen the wrong news sources or doesn't this qualify as "news" to the rest of the States?
(hmm. guess that's not so funny after all)
