Lafayette gets $8.2M for Katrina relief efforts

A week ago, city officials were expecting $10 M in reimbursement from FEMA for expenses the city incurred with housing evacuees at the Cajundome. The day before Rita hit the southwest coast of Louisiana, FEMA delivered a check for $8.2M to the city. That's a good start but FEMA still owes Lafayette $1.8M . . . a little more than pocket change!
