Katrina: Working at the CajunDome
While there are plenty of reliable reports of violence out of New Orleans, most of Saturday was quiet at Lafayette's CajunDome where about 6000 refugees were patiently waiting for a change of clothes, and other things necessary for hygeine. It was amazing to see the patience and resilience of so many people. Some had been in the sun in ninety degree weather for three, four five days, and they were waiting quietly for meals and for donated clothes. There are bad guys in New Orleans still, but the refugees at the Cajundome were terrific.
